Positives:

Strategy: Invest initial earning towards renting referrals. So, as soon as you reach $0.60 (should be reached in 5 days without help of any referral) transfer that to rental balance and rent a referral. Recycle them after 3 or 4 days of inactivity. Once you get an active referral, it will cost you $0.35 only to extend further. So, initially you may frustrate with inactive referrals, but it will be good in long term when you have a hold of good number of active referrals.
Once you reach $50, you should go for upgrade to earn higher. As an upgraded member you will get 9-10 extra ads that too worth $0.02. So you can make around $0.30 extra with an upgrade( without referral). Referrals will also earn extra for you (their click value becomes $0.015).
Check the ads twice in a day as sometime you may get 3-5 new ads.

* A bug related to recycling of rented referrals is being noticed. Many users in the forum are complaining that when they recycle a referral, its getting deleted. I am also one of the sufferer.(24.03.2010)
